Lumber has steadily increased in price these last few months. Example plywood 4ft x 8ft ¾ at the end of 2020 cost per sheet 23 dollars plus per sheet, the current cost is around 82 dollars plus cost per sheet.
“The production of lumber has not slowed down. We remained busy working throughout the pandemic. I don’t know why the cost has gone up, maybe to increase product profit,” Tim Bradley, Construction Logger, said.
After a fast check into the subject, the price increase is not because of Covid-19, or production, or lack of supply, but rather, hoarding by suppliers. Suppliers hoarding the product forces the prices to increase to increase the profit margin.
